Flag

Flag used by the "Turkish Armed Forces" during the Korean War (1950-53) as maintained in the "Istanbul Military Museum"; c. early 1950s. At the top the initials "TC" means "Türkiye Cumhuriyeti" or "Republic of Türkiye", and at the bottom it reads: "KORE.T.S.K." meaning "Korea Turk Shiahli Kuvvetleri" or "Korea Turkish Armed Forces". The source provided no information as to whether or not the flag was used in Korea or in Istanbul for ceremonial purposes.

The original caption implied that this special-made flag was presented by the Australian military to a Turkish military unit somewhere in Korea. The Turkish writing means in English: ''Sons of Atatürk, We Are Together''; c. Korean War, early 1950s. The letters "A.T.I." or "A.T.L." appear below the crescent moon; it would be interesting to know what they mean: the "A" could represent "Australia" and the "T" for "Turkey", or maybe meaning something totally different. Regarding the slogan on this flag, today (2024) Turkish secularists like Ataturk's reforms, but opposing Turkish Islamists probably find the expression "Sons of Ataturk" as being pejorative. As noted in Wikipedia: "Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, also known as Mustafa Kemal Pasha until 1921, and Ghazi Mustafa Kemal from 1921 until the Surname Law of 1934, was a Turkish field marshal, revolutionary statesman, author, and the founding father of the Republic of Turkey, serving as its first president from 1923 until his death in 1938." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustafa_Kemal_Atat%C3%BCrk
